250 Word Review
The Blair Witch Project 1994
Considering the budget and the resources the film is astonishing and ground breaking, it set standards for low budget film making as it was one of the first low budget movies to go viral. The low budget and lack of resources became an advantage for this horrifying film; it truly gave it an eerie sense of realism. The atmosphere of the unknown adds a great amount of suspense, its genuinely terrifying, the film doesn’t even let you know what you are scared of it lets your imagination create sinister scenarios in your own mind. The actors Heather, Mike and Josh, played by Heather Donahue, Michael Williams and Joshua Leonard really play a crucial role in the film from their arguing to the true fear which they present they play very convincing roles. It got to the point that when the film was released many people were led to believe that film was actually real sending shivering sensations of utter fear through them. I would say this movie is one of the best horrors from its era, with its spine-chilling suspense, true sense of realism and its creative individuality. Overall i would score the film a 9/10 with the only negative being that it slightly does drag towards the end. I would recommend this film to those who seek a realistic horror and love to have fear running through their veins. However I wouldn't recommend this film for those with feint hearts or those who cant deal with great amounts of suspense.
